It happens to all of us. You are vacuuming in your house and all of a sudden you notice that the vacuum is not picking up any more trash or dirt. You go over the dirt again. Still nothing, its still there. Its the bag. It needs to be changed. What do you do?

First you need to open to compartment to your vacuum. Do it slowly because there is going to be a lot of dust mites floating all over the place.

Next you are going to need to take the bag off the pipe leading into it. This is not that hard at all. You may have to loosen up a clamp of some sort but usually all you will have to do it pull it down. Again, dust will probabely be flying all over the place.

Take the bag off and notice what kind it is. Write it down. There is going to be a size and a number. Write down as much information as you possibly can.

Head to the store. You can get vacuum cleaner bags at any major store like Target, Wal Mart, Fred Myers, Kroger, Randalls, ect. Go to the home cleaning section and you will easily find them. Most stores usually have a few main brand name bags but most of them will be generic. I would recommended getting a couple of them as they are not that expensive and its nice to have a couple as backup should you need them in the future.

Get the right bag and take it home with you. Connect the bag back to the vacuum and make certain that it has a good seal. Turn it on and test it out. You should be able to vacuum up the dirt now. If not than you do have have the proper seal.

You are all set. Usually most bags will last for several months.

Vaccum Cleaner Bags

We have all been here before. Everyone has. Not just one person but everyone. You are vacuuming your living room and all of a sudden your vacuum cleaner is not picking up the dirt any longer. You go over the spot again. Nothing. You stop your vacuum cleaner. You take a look on the bottom. Everything is fine. What could it be??

You figure out that your bag is clogged.

Vacuum cleaner bags do not last forever. We would like to think that they do but that is not the case. They get clogged, go out, or just stop doing their job. And it can be very frustrating to change them out. There are several things to think about.

There is the model of your vacuum cleaner. The vacuum cleaner bags vary from brand to brand. No two particular styles have the same bags. A Hoover vacuum cleaner will have a totally different bag than a Kirby model.

Besides the brand there is the size to think about. There are many different sizes you can buy. The range can be quite significant.

I would highly recommend reading the instruction manual that your vacuum cleaner came with if you still have it. Many times it will tell you the exact replacement you have to get. The only problem, which actually is quite annoying, is that it will only give you the equivalent for that brand’s bags. That is not going to help you much if you have to go to Wal Mart or Fred Myers to pick up a generic vacuum cleaner bag. But it can give you the right size.

I would also recommend that you take the old vacuum cleaner bags with you to the store. I know that they will have a lot of dirt in them and be clogged but this will save you a wasted trip to the store. I have had to replace this item and when I get to the store I forget what size I needed and the style. Like I said before some are long some are short and it will be hard to remember exactly what it looked like.

This is just some of the information that I found useful. Let me know via comments or e-mail what you have found to be successful in dealing with vacuum cleaner bags. You might have some suggestions or insight that we can all use. I will try to post as much as I can. I actually got the idea for this website because this recently happened to me today. I was vacuuming my bedroom when I realized that my bag had reached it limit and needed to be replaced. I went to the store and forgot what size I needed. The clerk, of course, was unable to help me. I had to go all the way home and get the correct size. I then went back and they did not carry the size I needed. I had to go to several stores to get the correct vacuum cleaner bags. What a pain! So this topic may not be the most juiciest or most exciting topic that one can think of but its helpful when you need it.

Hopefully this information helped out. Again let me know what you think and do not be affraid to write me any comments
